Hi, my daughter, Maya, who is 9 years old, wanted to write a letter to the City of Saco and I suggested writing it to the paper too. She dictated and I typed it. She is also mailing her hand-written letter to the city. Here is what she wrote:

Dear City of Saco,

I have been walking with my family sometimes in Saco by Hannaford. We wanted to cross the street and my mom pushed the button for the walk sign. When it was time for us to walk, we walked casually across the street and when we were only about halfway through, the cross walk sign started to blink to tell us the time was almost up. My family and I are all healthy people. If someone handicapped or someone who needed to walk slower tried to cross the street they wouldn’t get to the other side safely before the light changed. I would like to make the time longer for crossing the street. It is not safe for everyone. Can you help me fix this problem?

Sincerely,

Maya
