Resurgence Dance Company’s We Are Rebels will premiere at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, located at 804 Washington Street in Bath, on January 17 and 18 at 7 p.m.

We Are Rebels is an original contemporary ballet that promises to enthrall all types of audience members as they witness the tale of Fea, a young woman who decides to take a stand against an unjust government. Fea will dare to leave her job in The Palace, say good bye to her sister, and risk everything to find a fulfilling path. The Queen has people looking out for her, and discovers Fea’s plans to join the Rebel Army. Sending a powerful assassin after Fea and her compatriots, The Queen continues on with her experimental human testing, knowing that the Rebels won’t be a problem for long.

Set in a dystopian future, lines will divide even those in The Palace, preparing everyone for the imminent battle between good and evil. This ballet introduces a cast of characters that includes a blissfully ignorant King, a naïve intern, and a mad scientist. Their stories are told through contemporary dance, electronica music, and acting.

Within two years of establishment the Resurgence Dance Company, directed by Ashley Steeves, has performed two shows at the Tony Dance Studio in Bath, staged a production at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, appeared with multiple sister dance companies, and conducted auditions seeking new talent. According to Steeves, the RDC goal is to engage adult dancers in contemporary ballet movements, giving them something they are excited to present onstage.

This is a full length contemporary ballet featuring electronic beats, anime style costuming, and is set in the dystopian future. This show may not be suitable for young children.

Then, Brothers Chuck and Steve Romanoff begin their 40th year as Schooner Fare with the return engagement Saturday, January 24 at the Chocolate Church Arts Center. From Washington, D.C.’s Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts to the Chocolate Church, located at 804 Washington Street in Bath, Schooner Fare performs lively concerts to folks of all ages, singing such signature original songs as Portland Town, Day of the Clipper, We the People, and Scuttlebutt with high spirits and their unique brand of Maine’s Down East humor.

Schooner Fare has won unanimous critical praise over their 40 years for captivating harmonies and winning stage presence. Their 15 albums include traditional songs of North America, Ireland, and Britain. Numerous original songs on both contemporary and traditional themes, as well as topical songs, country ballads, and maritime masterpieces have made their name synonymous with the “Down East” style.

Consummate entertain- ers, their energetic concerts are laced with a Maine brand of universal humor. Chuck and Steve combine their talents on six-string guitar, twelvestring guitar, and banjo to craft their distinctive vocal and instrumental arrangements. Local and regional press reviews include:
