Scarborough Middle School holds winter concerts

The Scarborough Middle School will hold its annual winter concerts on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 12 and 13, at the Winslow Homer Auditorium, which is located at the high school.

The sixth-grade band and the middle school chorus concert will be held on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m., and the program features songs such as “Give Me Wings,” and “March of the Minuteman,” among other selections.

The seventh- and eighth-grade bands concert will be held on Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. The seventh-grade program features “Cold Brook March,” while the eighth-grade band will play a selection of tunes from the movie, “Brave.”

The South Portland Board of Education is interested in knowing what the community is looking for in a new superintendent of schools. SAT prep classes begin Jan. 14

Maine Prep’s SAT preparation classes for South Portland, Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth area high school students will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday, Jan. 14 through March 11, to prepare students for the March 14 SAT.

The eight-session course, designed to teach students strategies to use in the math, writing and reading sections of the SAT, will meet at the Maine Prep South offices, 778 Main St., South Portland.

Maine Prep was founded to help Maine students raise SAT scores, boost their admission chances, and qualify for merit scholarships.
