TOPSHAM — Wilma Marie Hovey, 83, a resident of Topsham, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick following a brief illness. She was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Littleton, ME, a daughter of Claude S. and Vera E. (Donovan) Hansen.
Wilma was educated in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School with the class of 1947.
In 1946, Wilma was crowned Ms. Potato Blossom in Houlton.
She worked for several years for Sears in Manchester, CT and also worked as a hostess at World Gym in Manchester, CT, a position that she thoroughly enjoyed.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by many.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daryl L. Hovey, who died in 2003.
Survivors include her sons, Carl A. Hovey of Topsham and his companion Joy Rose of New York City, John D. and his wife Susan Hovey of Manchester, CT, Greg Woodruff of Columbia, CT, three sisters, Lorraine Junkins of Bangor, ME, Beverly Harvey of Sabattus, ME, and Diane Corkum of Florida, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
