Omari Johnson scored 23 points, James Young made five 3-pointers and the Maine Red Claws routed the Delaware 87ers 117-87 at Bob Carpenter Sports Convocation Center in Newark, Delaware.
Young was 5 for 7 from behind the arc and finished with 19 points, as did Dwight Powell, who made 7 of 10 field goal attempts. Young and Powell were assigned to the Red Claws on Tuesday after short stints with the Boston Celtics.
Jermaine Taylor had 16 points and Tim Frazier scored 14 points for the Red Claws, who have won three straight.
Powell and Ralph Sampson each had nine rebounds, and Frazier also had eight assists.
Maine scored the first eight points of the game and closed the first half with a 18-12 run for a 37-25 lead. That lead was never threatened.
HOCKEY
AHL: The Arizona Coyotes recalled defenseman David Schlemko from the Portland Pirates.
The 27-year-old Schlemko has a goal and three assists in 15 games for Arizona this season. He had a goal and three assists in two games for Portland.
SOCCER
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Manchester City and Schalke grabbed the final spots on offer in the knockout stage while Lionel Messi helped Barcelona secure first place in its group with a record-extending 75th goal in the competition.
City started the final round of group play in last place in Group E but finished second by beating Roma 2-0 in Italy, lifting the English champions above their Italian opponents and CSKA Moscow. CSKA lost 3-0 at Bayern Munich.
Schalke ensured a clean sweep of four German representatives in the last 16 for the second straight season after its 1-0 win at Maribor sealed the runner-up spot in Group H. Sporting Lisbon needed a draw at Chelsea to finish second but lost 3-1.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER: Real Salt Lake reacquired defender Jamison Olave from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for allocation money.
Olave had four goals and an assist in 57 games in two seasons with New York. In five seasons with Salt Lake, he had 10 goals and two assists in 120 games.
• Longtime MLS goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts was the first player taken in the league’s expansion draft.
Orlando City SC made the two-time league goalkeeper of the year the first of 10 players added from other teams ahead of its debut in North America’s top soccer league next year.
New York City FC took Ned Grabavoy first, reuniting the midfielder with his former coach at Real Salt Lake. Jason Kreis also used the 10th pick on defender Chris Wingert, who played with Grabavoy under Kreis at RSL when it won the 2009 MLS Cup.
The two new teams have already added players through a variety of methods, including free-agent signings. NYC FC signed David Villa and Frank Lampard, while Orlando has built around Brazilian star Kaka.
• Former Burnley and Bolton manager Owen Coyle has been hired as head coach of the Houston Dynamo.
The 48-year-old was hired by Burnley in England’s second-tier League Championship in November 2007 and earned promotion to the Premier League in May 2009.
BRASILIA TOURNAMENT: The United States women’s soccer team conceded a second-half equalizer in a 1-1 draw against China in the opening match of the International Tournament of Brasilia.
Carli Lloyd put the U.S. ahead in the 22nd minute but Hang Peng equalized in the 66th of the opening game of the four-team competition. Host Brazil and Argentina will play in the late match at the Mane Garrincha Stadium, which hosted seven World Cup matches.
Lloyd redirected the ball into the net after a cross from the right side by Megan Rapinoe, scoring her 57th goal with the national team. China equalized thanks to its midfielder’s remarkable right-footed shot from the right side of the box, finding the upper left corner over goalkeeper Hope Solo.

DOPING ALLEGATIONS: The head of the Russian athletics federation says he has stepped down from his role as IAAF treasurer while accusations of systematic doping by Russian athletes are investigated.
Valentin Balakhnichev said he and his federation had been subjected to “brutal persecution” following allegations in a German TV documentary that doping in Russia was commonplace and test results falsified.
Balakhnichev told the Tass agency he plans to return to his International Association of Athletics Federations post at “the end of the investigation into this doping scandal.”
CYCLING
INTERNATIONAL CYCLING UNION: The Astana team of Tour de France winner Vincenzo Nibali has been put on probation to retain its top-tier racing status next season after a series of doping cases.
Noting “heavy and repeated doping cases” in the Kazakhstan government-backed team, the ICU’s license commission imposed conditions to avoid a further review.
Reports in Italy that Astana riders have worked with Dr. Michele Ferrari – banned for life in the Lance Armstrong case – could also rebound on the team.
