He was born in Portland, Maine, on Oct. 17, 1946, a son of Leo F. and Mary R. (Deveno) Lowell.
He was a graduate of Portland High School ’65. He attended New Hampshire College of Accounting and Commerce in Manchester, N.H. He was employed as assistant treasurer for the city of Portland. On June 1, 1968, he married Kathleen Sullivan and moved to Bath in 1976. He was treasurer for the city of Bath and was employed at Bath Iron Works, retiring in 2012.
He was an avid boater who enjoyed evening and weekend cruises along the coast with family and friends.
He was a member of the Bath Lodge of Elks, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Downeast Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Lowell of Bath; two sons, Robert Lowell of Georgetown and Timothy Lowell and his wife Emily of Chapman; half-brother Edward Lowell of Mechanic Falls; half-sister Madeline Allen of Oxford, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by both parents and brother, Richard K. Lowell.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln St., Bath. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
