Harry Baker-Connick, Waynflete senior forward: Team captain scored 18 goals en route to All-West selection by the Maine Coaches Association. Won Steven LaBrecque Memorial Award, given by soccer officials to a player who displays sportsmanship, leadership, ability and teamwork.
Trent Bassingthwaite, Gorham junior goalie: SMAA first-team keeper posted eight shutouts, allowing only six goals for a team that went 11-0-3 in the regular season.
Ian Corey, Scarborough senior defender: Directed an otherwise new defense that allowed only three goals in the regular season, also taking the majority of free kicks and corner kicks.
Cody Elliott, Gorham junior midfielder: A high-energy player, he had nine goals and six assists, and was an All-West selection.
Tristan Gardner, Hampden Academy senior forward: A two-time NSCAA All-Region pick, Gardner scored 28 goals, giving him 85 in his career.
Mackenzie Hoglund, Cheverus junior forward/midfielder: A top offensive threat and rugged player who scored 13 goals and paced the Stags in their surprise run to the Class A title.
Adam LaBrie, Yarmouth senior forward: Set a school record with 24 goals – including a hat trick in the Western Class B final against Greely – while leading the Clippers to the state championship. He was one of Maine’s three All-Region picks.
Stephen Ochan, Deering senior midfielder: A powerful do-it-all player who could score from distance and create chances for teammates, he possessed the SMAA’s most dangerous throw-in. Ochan was named All-Region.
Abdi Shariff-Hassan, Lewiston junior forward: Led Class A with a school-record 27 goals and added 14 assists to power the Blue Devils to the Eastern Class A championship.
Griffin Thoreck, Cape Elizabeth senior defender: A tough defender known for his powerful free kicks, Thoreck scored two goals.
Simon Trcka, Thornton Academy junior forward: A dynamic finisher with speed and strength, the Czech Republic native scored 17 goals and added nine assists in just 11 games.
Coach of the Year
Colin Minte, Cheverus: Minte, who directed Windham to a state championship in 2011, matched that feat in his first season at Cheverus. The Stags entered the Western Class A playoffs as the No. 7 seed with a 6-6-4 record, but used timely scoring, tough defense and superb goalkeeping from Jacob Tomkinson to win the state title.
