HOLLIS — Gloria May Googoo Spencer, 63, of Hollis, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, with her family by her side, after a longtime battle with diabetes.

Gloria was born at Webber Hospital in Biddeford on April 16, 1951, a daughter to James and Claire Googoo. Her mother later remarried Albert Powers, who helped raise her.

In December of 1973, Gloria married David Spencer of Westbrook.

David was in the Coast Guard at the time, and Gloria loved him very much. They share a son together, Ricky Spencer, whom she adored.

Gloria enjoyed crocheting and make fudge. She also enjoyed going to yard sales with David, but most of all, her love was for her family ”“ the sleepovers she had with her grandchildren, Keisha, Beanie and Ricki Spencer, they were the center of her life.

Gloria was preceded in death by: her daughter, Penny Lynn Powers; mother, Claire E. Powers; father, James J. Googoo; stepfather, Albert J. P. Powers; sister, Paula Powers Mitchell; and a brother, Joseph Powers.

Surviving are: her husband, David M. Spencer; son, Ricky Spencer; grandchildren, Keisha, Beanie and Ricki Spencer; brothers, Gordon Googoo, Gerald Powers and Robert Powers; and sisters, Gayle Houle, Jenny Smith and Lorraine MacLean.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 13 Portland Road, Buxton, with a celebration of life following.
