AUGUSTA — At a recent celebration at the Maine Hospital Association headquarters in Augusta, Brunswick’s Parkview Adventist Medical Center was honored with the highest recognition: the Gold Star Standards of Excellence by the Maine Tobacco Free Hospital Network.

Parkview was recognized for embodying the 10 standards of excellence including a 100 percent tobacco-free campus policy prohibiting the use of all tobacco products (including e-cigarettes), and offering information to patients and employees about dependence, second- and third-hand smoke and local/statewide treatment resources.

“We are honored and pleased to again be recognized for the tremendous effort that goes into ensuring Parkview is a safe, healthy campus for patients and employees,” said Randee Reynolds, CEO and president of Parkview Adventist Medical Center.

Also, longtime Parkview employee Dennis Farley was honored with the Gold Star Champion award for his extensive work in helping community members stop smoking.

“The 10-Day Breathe Free Program is administered passionately by Dennis Farley, who works in PAMC’s cardio-pulmonary unit and sees firsthand the ravages tobacco use causes,” noted the Maine Tobacco Free listing.
