As a Republican, I worried for a while about the election. Democrats send all their top guns to Maine to elect Mike Michaud governor.
Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama, Angus King ”“ they all drew good-sized crowds in Bangor, Scarborough and Portland.
Gov. Paul LePage had the prize winner, former first lady Barbara Bush’s video, showing her and babies at the Maine Medical Center. Included in the video, she was shown endorsing Gov. LePage.
Republican Bruce Poliquin won Congressman Michaud’s seat in Washington. He defeated Emily Cain, a Democrat, in Maine’s Second District.
Maine’s Republican Party is in charge of the state Senate. They gained 10 seats in the state House; they are still in the minority in the House.
If I were running for political office, I wouldn’t want Maine’s independent U.S. Sen. Angus King’s endorsement. He’s a man who can’t be trusted. Look what he did to gubernatorial candidate independent Eliot Cutler. He jumped ship and joined a losing Democratic team for gubernatorial candidate Michaud.
Thank God the voters re-elected pro-life, pro-family Gov. Paul LePage.
