LILLY GARDINER AS PUCK, Jacob Guerrette as Oberon, Drew Gallant as Bottom, and Soliloquy Rhodes as Titania.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday November 20, 21, and 22 at 7 p.m., and an additional performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Crooker Theater, the Brunswick High School Players will present their fall production of William Shakespeare’s most delightful comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Not sure you like Shakespeare? This production will change your mind! Midsummer’s plot about four star-crossed lovers who meet in the woods, only to be tricked by the fairies and hobgoblins who dwell there is zany enough, but BHS Players’ production takes the zaniness to a whole new level. Through the use of plenty of physical comedy and the silliest of props (rubber chickens anyone?) the Players have mounted a production in the full, true spirit of Shakespeare’s intention — to make his audiences laugh. Add to this an incredible set design executed by Mr. Clark and his wood shop class, consisting of huge, brightly lit trees and an overhanging moving canopy of leaves for the forest and you get an unforgettable, hilarious, and most enchanting production.
So before you write off Shakespeare, come to see BHS Players’ A Midsummer Night’s Dream. All shows begin at 7 p.m. with an additional matinee performance on November 22nd at 2 p.m.. Tickets are $8 for students and senior citizens and $10 for adults and can be purchased at the door.
