BIDDEFORD — Jackie Dickerson scored the first two goals Wednesday and second-seeded University of New England went on to a 5-0 victory against seventh-seeded Emmanual in the quarterfinals of the ECAC New England women’s soccer tounament.
The Nor’easters (12-4-2) will be home against third-seeded Westfield State in a semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday.
Dickerson curled the ball around goalie Victoria Laroche after receiving a chip from Taylor Littlefield in the seventh minute. Dickerson scored her 10th of the season when she collected a header from Becca Murphy and tucked a shot inside the far post in the 21st.
Margaret Palmer kicked in a loose ball in the 40th minute for a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Murphy scored from Edie Pallozzi six minutes into the second half, and Kaitlyn Hall flicked in a shot after beating Laroche to the ball in the 69th for the final goal.
Brielle Robinson made two saves before yielding to Emily Richard with 13 minutes left. Richard stopped one shot.
Laroche made 10 saves for the Saints (13-11).

FLORIDA STATE: The Tallahassee, Florida, Police Department said running back Karlos Williams won’t be charged after a domestic battery investigation.
The police released the incident report detailing the investigation, which ended because “without a statement or additional evidence there is no way to further this case.” The case remains “Open/Inactive.”
n A person familiar with the Jameis Winston code of conduct hearing said Florida State pushed it back to Dec. 1. It was originally scheduled for the week of Nov. 17.
FLORIDA A&M: Athletic Director Kellen Winslow issued a statement apologizing “to those I have offended” with recent actions taken within the department.
Many students and alumni were critical of Winslow after he fired football coach Earl Holmes during homecoming week and after just 19 games.
PENN STATE: As Louis Freeh, the former FBI director hired by Penn State, prepared his 2012 investigative report on the school’s handling of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, his law firm regularly met with and shared information with the NCAA, according to e-mails filed with the state’s Commonwealth Court.
That cooperation, which ranged from e-mail contacts to weekly conference calls, suggests a heretofore unknown interaction between the college sports governing body and the chosen investigator of one of its most storied football programs as the investigation progressed, according to the lawyers who unearthed the e-mails.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
WEST VIRGINIA: Guard Bre McDonald will serve a three-game suspension.
McDonald was suspended from the team Oct. 29 for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
