RUMFORD — Joanne M. Packard, 74, of Rumford, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 at Stephen’s Memorial Hospital in Norway, surrounded by the love of her entire family.
She was born in Livermore Falls on Dec. 18, 1939, the daughter of Willie H. and Mary Therrien Begin Sr., and was educated in Livermore Falls schools.
Mrs. Packard was a homemaker.
She was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. She enjoyed logging with her father as a young girl. She loved horses and her dogs. She was a talented musician, who loved to play country music, sing and play guitar to her family and friends. She was often invited to play in many dance clubs.
She was a former member of the Le Voltigeur Snowshoe Club, AMVETS and Eagles Club in Biddeford and in Rumford.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, John R. Packard Jr.; and brothers, Willie H. Begin Jr. and Wilfred Begin.
Surviving are: two sons, Michael Packard and his wife Michelle of Arundel and Timothy Packard and his wife Lisa of Biddeford; three daughters, Beatrice Smith and her husband Kenneth of Norway, Carol Packard and her companion Richard Pate of Biddeford and Barbara Roy and her husband David of Lyman; four sisters, Jeanette Bryant of Rumford, -Martha Gauthziet of Buxton, Constance Williams of New York and Irene Pratt of Bryant Pond; seven grandchildren, Sheryl Hamilton, Kenneth Lovejoy, Mary Ann Packard, Marijo Packard-Hazlerig, Joey Pepin, Amanda Packard and Ryan Belanger; three great-grandchildren, Amber Hamilton, Aaron Hazlerig and Isabella Hazlerig; one great-great- granddaughter, Navaeh Spaid; and several uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Many thanks to all those who helped care for her in her fight against cancer. A special heartfelt “thank you” to her very best friend, Lisa Arsenault, and family for the care and love they supplied her over the year.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 at St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
