SANFORD — Anna E. Houde Vander Schaaf, 71, passed away Oct. 24, 2014 at Springbrook Nursing Center in Westbrook, after a long illness.

She was born in Sanford on Oct. 27, 1942, to Aime Joseph Houde and Eleanor Grace Robinson, and lived most of her life in and around Sanford.

She was a 1960 graduate of Sanford High, received an associate’s degree in finance from Burdett College and graduated from Downeast School of Massage in Waldoboro.

Anna enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to her four children, painting, photography, playing her organ, time with her good friends, dancing, nature, holistic healing, sailing and traveling with her husband, Jim. Anna and Jim most recently traveled in and around San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and resided in Alcocer for four years.

She will be missed by: her four children, Stephen, Stacey, Shannon and Carol; her stepchildren, Dietlind, Deirdre and Marielle; her grandchildren, Amy, Rae-Lynn, Kaley, Cameron, Owen, Alden, Elliot, Makaila, Mya and Alana; her great-grandchild, Cambria; and her stepgrandson, Alexander.

Her sister, Cecilia, her former husband, Perley, and her husband, Jim will also miss Anna.

The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at Conroy-Tully Crawford Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, followed by a reception.
