SACO — Albert Maurice Marcotte, 88, of Saco, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.
He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on Jan. 11, 1926, the son of Joseph B. and Eugenie Foran Marcotte.
He was educated in Manchester, New Hampshire schools and served with the U.S. Army 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II.
On Aug. 31, 1946, he married Vivian Fleurant in St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford. She died April 25, 1990.
On June 28, 1991, he married Claire Hubert-Chretien in Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco. She died on Nov. 3, 2007.
Mr. Marcotte worked for more than 18 years with the Saco Tanning Corp. in Saco. He worked a short time with Maremont Corp. in Saco and last worked more than 10 years with Pratt & Whitney in North Berwick, retiring in 1992.
He was a callman for many years for the Biddeford Fire Department and served as a Biddeford Fire commissioner for a few years.
He enjoyed college and professional sports, especially the New England Patriots.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Paulette Toussaint, on April 11, 1999; a sister, Irene Desmarais; a grandson, David Toussaint; and a stepson, Richard Chretien, on April 14, 2014.
Surviving are: one daughter, Claire Lacerte and her husband Bill of Biddeford; one sister, Estelle Thompson of Biddeford; two stepsons, Dennis D. Chretien of Saco and Carl A. Chretien of Biddeford; two stepdaughters, Diane Howe of Texas and Patricia Guillereault and husband David of Florida; and three grandchildren, Susan Stygles of Tennessee, Michael Toussaint of North Carolina and Robert Lacerte of Old Orchard Beach.
Visiting hours will be 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, followed by a funeral service at noon at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
