Mr. Weil hits some of the nails on the head, but not all, in his “Politicians promise jobs but can’t produce.”

Most of the fixes he advocates are mere Band-Aids, which cannot begin to stem the bleeding of an arterial wound. That wound was caused by the North American Free Trade Agreement and General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. Manufacturing and industry packed up and fled overseas and south of the border after those reprehensible pieces of legislation. Until such time as they are repealed, nothing is going to bring those businesses back. Downtown Biddeford is proof of this open and profusely bleeding wound.

When considering for whom to vote, you may do well to consider that the Democrats controlled the U.S. House, the Senate and the presidency when this un-American legislation was passed.

One statement is of interest, “Government can do many things to promote job growth.” This is not really true. Government can do one thing to promote job growth, namely, get the hell out of the way of the free market.

As for the Federal Reserve, a cabal of anti-Christian international bankers, Woodrow Wilson wrote that he had destroyed America when he signed the Federal Reserve Act.

We borrow money that comes from nothing, then pay interest on it. All the while the Treasury could print it without borrowing. Kennedy signed an executive order for the Treasury to do this, and it got him killed.

Frank Novotny, Biddeford
