BOSTON — Annabelle Hamilton scored the tiebreaking goal on a penalty stroke in the third minute of overtime, and the 20th-ranked University of Maine field hockey team extended its winning streak to eight with a 2-1 victory over No. 15 Northeastern on Sunday afternoon.

Hamilton also assisted on Nicole Sevey’s tying goal 14 minutes into the second half after Emma Lamison gave the Huskies a first-half lead.

Emily Corbet made five saves for the Black Bears (10-6). Northeastern’s Becky Garner also stopped five shots.

RHODES 4, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Scarborough’s Shauni Cowan set up two goals by Mary Rose Hazel, and Rhodes (10-2) downed St. Joseph’s (11-2) at Standish in the first meeting between the schools in any sport.

Christina DiFelice also scored two goals, each assisted by Evy Royther.

The Lynx pulled away by scoring three goals on four second-half shots and finished with a 14-1 shot advantage.

MEN’S SOCCER

BABSON 1, BOWDOIN 0: Logan Ventura scored from 15 yards out 34 seconds into the second overtime to push the Beavers (11-4) past the Polar Bears (8-5) in Babson Park, Massachusetts.

Ventura dodged two Bowdoin defenders on a 25-yard jaunt before striking the ball past keeper Stevie Van Siclen (five saves).

Stephen Donato earned the shutout, turning aside three shots, including a hard shot from Bowdoin’s Sam Ward in the 50th minute.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

MAINE 1, UMASS-LOWELL 0: Eve L’Abbe scored on her own rebound early in the second half to give the Black Bears (4-7-5, 2-1-4 America East) the advantage in a win over the host River Hawks (5-10-1, 2-4-1).

Claudia Dube-Trempe needed just two saves for the shutout, while UMass-Lowell’s Jill Carlson stopped five shots.

ROWING

HEAD OF THE CHARLES: With a crew that included Cumberland’s Savannah Stockly, Bates won the women’s collegiate eights competition at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Bobcats navigated the 4,800-meter course in 17 minutes, 25.60 seconds, finishing 1.77 seconds ahead of Trinity.

Bowdoin finished third in both the men’s and women’s fours competitions, with Scarborough’s Mark Endrizzi among the Polar Bear men.

FOOTBALL: California receiver Trevor Davis was released from the hospital after he was hurt on a kickoff return Saturday against UCLA.

Davis took a knee to the helmet and was removed from the field on a stretcher but was able to move his legs and talk.
