One day recently, after a gorgeous weekend, I did not want to go inside for a cup of coffee. Nor did I want to sit on the sidewalk, as I wanted to read and write in less bustle.

Congress Square Park was perfect. With its steps into a spacious separate area, it still felt connected to the vibrancy of the street.

I sat at a comfortable table, surrounded by pretty planters, colorful umbrellas, an inviting food truck, a variety of folks, music and birds – an oasis in the middle of the city.

I saw not even one example of unpleasant behavior. Thank you to all who have made this enhanced space possible.
