CLINTON, N.Y. — Tyler Grant ran for 97 yards and scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns Saturday as Bowdoin downed Hamilton 30-24 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference football game.

Bowdoin (2-2) trailed 10-6 at halftime but came back to take a 16-10 lead in the third quarter on a 5-yard pass from Mac Caputi to Jack Donovan and a 25-yard field goal by Andrew Sisti, his third of the game.

Grant scored on a 39-yard run with 2:06 left in the game to give the Polar Bears a 30-17 lead.

But Hamilton returned the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown. The Polar Bears then recovered Hamilton’s onside kick but were forced to punt with 17 seconds left.

The Continentals blocked the punt and recovered at the Bowdoin 27 with nine seconds left.

Dan Johnson then intercepted a pass in the back of the end zone on Hamilton’s final play.

AMHERST 35, COLBY 10: Raheem Jackson scored on a pair of 1-yard runs for the Lord Jeffs (4-0), who scored 21 points in the third quarter to erase a 3-0 halftime deficit in a NESCAC win over the Mules (0-4) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Gabe Harrington completed 17 of 29 passes for 216 yards and Jabari Hurdle-Price rushed for 66 yards for the Mules.

HUSSON 40, SUNY MARITIME 0: John Smith rushed for 153 yards with a pair of touchdowns as the Eagles (3-1) shut out the Privateers (1-4) at Throggs Neck, New York.

Husson totaled 274 yards on the ground and built a 33-0 halftime lead.

WESLEYAN 24, BATES 10: Jesse Warren threw for 262 yards and one touchdown, and Devon Carrillo rushed for 92 yards on seven carries for the Cardinals (4-0), who scored 17 straight points to rally past the Bobcats (1-3) in a NESCAC game at Lewiston.

Shaun Carroll rushed for 51 yards for the Bobcats, who were outgained 418-164 by the Cardinals.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1, WENTWORTH 1: Tori Field scored the tying goal for UNE midway through the first half, and the Windjammers (8-2-1, 3-1-1 Commonwealth Coast) played to a draw against the Leopards (5-6-2, 1-3-1) at Biddeford.

Field’s goal came six minutes after Wentworth’s Mary Annon connected with a free kick from about 40 yards.

AMHERST 3, COLBY 2: Delancey King headed in a cross from Meredith Maney in OT to lift the Jeffs (9-2, 6-1 NESCAC) over the Mules (4-5-1, 1-4-1) at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Cami Notaro’s second goal of the game, off a corner kick by Janie O’Halloran, gave Colby a 2-1 lead with about 26 minutes left in regulation, but Amherst converted a penalty kick four minutes later.

EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 3, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Michele D’Agata broke a scoreless deadlock 14 minutes into the second half as the Warriors (7-5-1, 2-2 Little East) beat the Huskies (2-10-1, 0-4) at Gorham.

UNITY 2, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 0: Mariza Gionfriddo and McKinley Bell scored second-half goals to lead the Rams past the Seawolves at South Portland.

The teams will meet again in a Yankee Small College Conference quarterfinal Wednesday at Unity.

HAMILTON 1, BOWDOIN 0: Katja Dunlap scored in the 20th minute as the Continentals (8-3, 5-1 NESCAC) edged the Polar Bears (8-2, 5-1) at Clinton, New York.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 2, UNITY 1: Steve Rwendeye chipped in a pass from Sean Jackson with about 10 minutes remaining to give the Seawolves a win over the Rams at South Portland.

SMCC will host Unity in a Yankee Small College Conference quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

ALASKA-ANCHORAGE 3, MAINE 1: Dan Renouf scored for the Black Bears as they lost their opener early Saturday morning at Anchorage, Alaska.

ALASKA 5, MAINE 2: Josh Atkinson, Colton Sparrow and Alec Hajdukovich each had one goal and one assist for the Nanooks (2-0), who scored three third-period goals to pull away from the Black Bears (0-2) at Anchorage, Alaska.

Maine took the lead 9:43 into the game when Blaine Byron scored from Cam Brown and Conor Riley. Less than two minutes later Alaska scored twice just over one minute apart.

Devin Shore added a goal for the Black Bears from Brown and Eric Schurhamer that cut it to 4-2 with 2:57 left.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 2, MERCYHURST 2: Emily Janiga’s second goal of the game with 4:52 left in regulation enabled Mercyhurst (3-0-1) to secure a tie against the Black Bears (2-2-1) at Orono.
