BATH

This Saturday morning there will be a lot for kids to do in the city of Bath to celebrate autumn.

First is the annual scarecrow making contest, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the Custom House Lawn. The Bath Parks and Recreation Department will supply the body frames, hay, and markers, but kids must bring their own old clothes and accessories, such as hats, scarves, and other items to decorate their new friends. It’s a free event.

Also, from 10 a.m. – noon at Waterfront Park, ArtVan will be doing spin painting with kids. There will be no charge, although donations will be accepted.

Kids are also welcome to visit Maine’s First Ship as it is being built down at the Freight Shed. The Pinnace Virginia is a replica of a 1607 ship built at Popham Colony, years before the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock. The project will close down for the winter after this weekend, so this is a good time to come and visit. The freight shed will be open from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
