I am very glad that such an outstanding person is running to serve Sanford in the Maine House of Representatives. Matt Harrington is already a dedicated public servant, and folks in Sanford and throughout Maine would benefit from having him serve on a larger scale at the Statehouse.
Matt has served as a firefighter, an EMT, and is currently a police officer. You may have heard about his recent lifesaving actions at a traffic stop ”“ he received national attention for that deed. However, Matt’s attitude following that event was most impressive. He exhibited great humility, and had the attitude that he was just doing his job. That is the type of personality we need more of in Augusta.
Having served eight years in Augusta, and been involved in state government for years while my husband served in Augusta, I can assure you that Matt’s humility and quiet style of leadership will be an asset at the Statehouse. He leads by example and understands the notion of simply getting the job done. We need more people like him to serve us ”“ people who are interested in listening to the citizens they serve, learning about the issues, and then making the decision they believe is right for their community and the state.
If you live in Sanford, and have not yet gotten to know Matt Harrington, I encourage you to do so. I am confident you will come away eager to vote for him. He is an impressive young man, and will be an excellent state representative.
