SACO — Eva A. Martel, 84, of Saco, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at her home.

She was born July 21, 1930 in North Attleboro, Massachu-setts, a daughter of Ladislas and Marie Rose (Charpantier) Cloutier.

Eva was educated in Canada and at St. Ignatius School in Sanford.

On Nov. 15, 1952, she married Jean Martel in St. Ignatius Church in Sanford.

She had worked in local shoe shops until she became disabled in her early 50s.

Eva was a member of Good Shepherd Parish.

She enjoyed knitting and sewing and had sewn clothing for her children.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jean Martel, on Jan. 28, 2010; and a daughter, Susan, in 1956.

Surviving are: three sons, Patrick Martel and his wife Patricia and Philip Martel and his wife Irene, all of Biddeford, and Andre Martel and his wife Debbie of Saco; one daughter, Doris Golding and her husband Stephen of Saco; one sister, Theresa Morin of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Joseph “Gerry” Cloutier of Springvale; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Friday at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
