KITTERY — Anthony Sowell scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 38-yard run with 10:24 remaining, and Traip Academy held on for a 31-26 win over Boothbay in a Western Class D football game Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 25-14 at the half, Boothbay (1-2) rallied to take a 26-25 lead on a pair of third-quarter touchdowns by Julian Aponte. Aponte scored on a 4-yard run with 4:50 left in the third, then followed with a 2-point conversion rush to put the Seahawks in front.
Sowell scored three touchdowns and finished with 232 yards rushing. Traip (2-1) got a 70-yard touchdown pass from Matt Kashmer to Evan Porter, who also had a 20-yard rushing touchdown.
Zach Vise added a pair of rushing touchdowns for Boothbay, including a 78-yard score in the first quarter that cut the deficit to 13-6.
SOUTH PORTLAND 61, NOBLE 14: Matt Stearns and Hayden Owen scored four touchdowns apiece to lead a strong rushing attack for the Red Riots (3-1) as they cruised to a win over the Knights (0-4) at North Berwick.
Remi Sedjro also scored a touchdown for the Red Riots, who led 40-7 at halftime.
MORSE 21, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 7: Dillion Havener rushed for 86 yards on 10 carries and scored a touchdown as the Shipbuilders (2-2) beat the Raiders (2-2) at Bath.
Justin Trottier and Connor Upham also scored touchdowns for Morse, and James Lovitt kicked a 32-yard field goal.
Tyler York led a strong defensive effort for Morse with five tackles and two interceptions. Damon Osmond and Tyreik Foster added an interception apiece.
WINSLOW 55, CAMDEN HILLS 14: Dylan Hapworth rushed for two touchdowns and scored on a 54-yard punt return as the Black Raiders (4-0) rolled past the Windjammers (0-4) at Winslow.
Nate St. Amand ran for 113 yards and a touchdown on six carries for Winslow, which led 34-0 after one quarter and 47-0 at the half.
Kenny Rickard, Jacob Trask, Trenton Bouchard and Dylan Hutchinson contributed a touchdown apiece.
Nate Pascal ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass for Camden Hills.
WATERVILLE 38, NOKOMIS 8: Cam Thomas scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the first half, and Dan Pooler rushed for three touchdowns as the Purple Panthers (4-0) defeated the Warriors (1-3) at Waterville.
Nokomis scored on a safety in the final minute of the first quarter, and Josh King’s 23-yard pass to Ray Girroir with 8:02 left in the second quarter gave Nokomis an 8-7 lead.
But Thomas scored on a 40-yard run to put Waterville back in front, and a Nokomis fumble led to Pooler’s 60-yard touchdown run with 32.3 seconds left in the half.
