Dear valued reader:
You may have noticed that we have been making some changes in the paper. Today’s Opinion section, this page, is the latest example of our changes and perhaps the most significant one.
We no longer have an editorial, an article representing the paper’s view. Nor will we have the short thumbs up or down as the official viewpoint of the paper.
But like anyone in the community, we as individuals have views and I have encouraged our staff to write opinions and share them with you, just like the ones you share with us. This sharing is an indication of a vibrant community. The goal is for folks to read and consider another person’s viewpoint and judge it based on its merits. We are all members of this community, the York County community.
I take full responsibility for this change, and if you don’t like it, I certainly want to hear from you. Likewise, if you think this is a positive move for the paper, I would like to hear that as well. In any case, we will continue to try to provide you with relevant, valuable information in all of our pages. Some of it will be local, as much as possible. And some of it will be national. Some of it will be funny or interesting and some simply informative. Whatever it is, we will always strive to ensure it is valuable.
