At the end of the recent editorial about the cell tower in Biddeford, it states, “We hope the council will stick to its initial decision ”¦” Translation: “Let them give us cancer.”
The initial decision was to place this disease-causing tower right next to people, especially little children, who are five times more sensitive to its destructive radiation than adults. Really good decision here, city council.
Do not listen to the pleas of the people who elected you to represent them. Just go for the big money. After listening to the words of the ladies who spoke with grave concern for their children and grandchildren, I could not possibly comprehend that any caring human being would reject them.
But, as has been relayed to me during the time I was gathering signatures, many folks understand that Biddeford is run by a small cabal of families who do what they want and not what the citizens want.
The city attorney continues to refuse to acknowledge that the FCC grants to citizens the right to determine the location and height of a tower.
And, there were many signatures that were valid on the petition to send this to a public vote, despite the flawed list of the city clerk.
The fact remains that more than 2,500 residents signed the petition.
