GRAY — Amelia Waite and Georgia Babikian scored Saturday as Falmouth opened its Western Maine Conference schoolgirl soccer season with a 2-0 victory against Gray-New Gloucester.
Adelaide Cooke needed to make one save for the Yachtsmen, who held a 17-2 advantage in shots.
Zoe Adams made nine saves for Gray-New Gloucester, which also was opening its season.
BONNY EAGLE 1, BIDDEFORD 1: Brooke Tardif scored her first varsity goal with a one-timer from the top of the 18-yard box to give Biddeford a tie in an opener at home.
The Scots took a 1-0 lead on Maddie Freeman’s goal midway through the second half.
Kelsey Parkin made 15 saves for the Scots; Anna Marie Seiler had four for Biddeford.
KENNEBUNK 7, WELLS 1: Cara McClusky and Leah Bridgham scored two goals apiece for Kennebunk in an opener at Wells.
Hallie Schwartzman, Alyssa Weigle and Elizabeth Cain also scored for the Rams. Weigle and McClusky both finished with two assists.
MARSHWOOD 2, GORHAM 1: Korinne Bohunsky’s penalty kick was the difference as Marshwood won an opener at Gorham.
Narissa Libby scored for Gorham off a Cady Houghton feed. Marin Smith set up Megan McLean for the tying goal.
ERSKINE ACADEMY 2, MT. VIEW 0: Avery Bond scored eight minutes in and Erskine’s defense clamped down to limit Mt. View to two shots and post the shutout in Thorndike.
Kaylee Porter added an insurance goal at the 34-minute mark for the Eagles (1-0). Lauren Wood and Mallory Chamberlain posted assists. Cass Ray made one save for the shutout.
Logan Basford stopped 10 shots for Mt. View (0-1).
MONMOUTH 10, MT. ABRAM 0: Emily Grandahl scored three goals and dished out two assists as six Mustangs scored in a shutout of Mt. Abram at Monmouth.
Sidney Wilson and Haley Fletcher scored two goals apiece. Sammy Grandahl added a goal and two assists, and Maddie Bumann and Taylor Spadafora chipped in with a goal apiece.
Mikayla Cameron and Maddie Neal split time in goal for the Mustangs (2-0), who outshot the Roadrunners, 25-2.
BOYS’ SOCCER
YORK 4, LAKE REGION 0: Jordan Gomes scored twice to lead the Wildcats in an opener at York.
Spencer Goulette and Alex Nickerson also scored, and Cam Smith and Tyler Barrows had assists.
Smith needed one save for the shutout.
PORTLAND 5, SANFORD 0: Jonathan Bobe scored three goals for Portland in an opener at Sanford.
Faris Baziga and Will Sarvis also scored, and Erick Molina, Sam Farr, Tim Bake and Haron Habibzai provided assists.
Bobby Brittingham made 12 saves for the shutout. Tylar Burgess and Marcus Gould of the Spartans combined to turn back 21 shots.
YARMOUTH 7, POLAND 0: Yarmouth scored five goals in the first half in an opener at Poland.
Connor Lainey started the first-half outburst with a 20-yard direct kick after 3:29.
Andrew Beatty scored from Patrick Grant midway through the half. Adam LaBrie, Connor Hoehle and Grant all scored in the final 10 minutes of the half to put the Clippers up 5-0.
Matt Dostie and Nicholas Kamra added second-half goals.
GORHAM 1, MARSHWOOD 0: Nate Roberts booted a second-half goal to lift Gorham in an opener at South Berwick.
Cole Houghton assisted on the play, and Trenton Bassingthwaite secured the shutout with six saves.
Samuel Leathe turned away 14 shots for Marshwood.
HALL-DALE 3, ST. DOMINIC 0: Nat Crocker scored a pair of goals to pace the Bulldogs to a win in their season opener at Auburn.
Jake Young had a goal and an assist, while Ryan Sinclair and Ryan Fitzgerald also chipped in with assists. Brian Allen made nine saves to pick up the shutout.
MT. ARARAT 5, MESSALONSKEE 1: Mt. Ararat (1-0) scored four times in the second half to down Messalonskee at Topsham.
Cole Guerin broke a scoreless tie with his goal late in the first half, but it was not until the final 17 minutes that Mt. Ararat pulled away.
Will Couture had the lone goal for Messalonskee, while Jonah Webb made 12 saves.
MT. BLUE 1, OXFORD HILLS 0: Evan Backus scored with 25 minutes left in regulation to lift the Cougars over the Vikings at South Paris.
Drew Parsons had the assist.
Colton Lawrence made five saves to earn the shutout.
Jake Beauchesne had six saves for the Vikings.
MT. ABRAM 3, WISCASSET 0: Luke Romanoski scored two goals and Courtland Talmage had one as the Roadrunners won their opener at Salem.
Tristen Dyer made eight saves for Mt. Abram. Conlon Ranta stopped seven shots for Wiscasset.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, FALMOUTH 1: Hanna Bosworth scored 4:47 into the second half from Caroline Garfield as the Capers (2-0) edged the Yachtsmen (1-1) at Falmouth.
After Falmouth took the lead 5:30 into the game on Elle Fitzgerald’s goal, Taylor Herrera tied it 12:32 before the half.
Caroline Dyhrberg made eight saves for Falmouth. DiPietro blocked six shots for the Capers.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3, CAMDEN HILLS 1: Patty Ryan and Kaylee LeClerc scored in the first half for Spruce Mountain in an opener at Camden.
Alexis Bessy scored a second-half goal for the Phoenix. Macy Buck answered with a goal in the second half for Camden Hills.
LAWRENCE 6, LEWISTON 2: Domi Lewis notched a hat trick and Lauren Watson scored twice as the Bulldogs (2-0) beat the Blue Devils (0-2) in Fairfield.
Hallee Parlin added the other goal and also had three assists. Lawrence goalie Emily Tozier made three saves.
Kaylyn LaBonte made 14 saves for Lewiston.
