FRYEBURG — Ben Southwick caught a pair of touchdown passes in the final eight minutes as Fryeburg Academy rallied for a 14-12 win over Kennebunk in a football season opener Saturday.

Patrick Saunders scored on a 31-yard run and a 66-yard reception from Donovan Connor in the second quarter to give Kennebunk a 12-0 lead.

The defending Western Class B champions had a chance to increase their lead early in the fourth quarter, but Fryeburg took over on downs after a goal-line stand, setting up a drive that culminated in Ryan Gullikson’s 66-yard pass to Southwick. Brandon Ludwig kicked the extra point to make it 12-7.

Kennebunk again drove deep into Raiders territory, but a fumble set the stage for Gullikson’s 47-yard touchdown pass with less than a minute to play.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 26, TRAIP ACADEMY 6: Quarterback Bryan Roberts rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdown as the Seagulls won a game delayed twice by lightning at Kittery.

The game was called with just under four minutes remaining after a third round of thunder moved in.

Roberts scored on a 40-yard run in the first quarter and a 2-yard keeper in the second.

Andre Graves and Eric Hogan both scored on 12-yard runs in the second half.

Roberts made an interception midway through the third quarter and returned it 60 yards, spoiling a scoring opportunity for Traip.

Outside linebacker Dylan Creswell anchored the Seagulls’ defense with three sacks.

Traip’s touchdown came in the fourth quarter on an 82-yard run by Evan Porter.

OAK HILL 47, TELSTAR 14: Alex Mace rushed for three touchdowns and had a touchdown reception as the reigning Class D state champions rolled to a win at Wales.

Telstar’s touchdowns both came on kickoff returns – by Calvin Glover and Devin Merrill.

LISBON 28, WINTHROP/MONMOUTH 24: Kyle Bourget rushed for a touchdown and passed for another, and the Greyhounds held off the Ramblers at Lisbon Falls.

WINSLOW 38, MADISON/CARRABEC 7: Winslow forced four turnovers, including an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown by Dylan Hapworth, and held the Bulldogs to 113 yards in a win at home.

Hapworth also had a 4-yard TD run and a 34-yard field goal, and quarterback Bobby Chenard rushed for two touchdowns.

WATERVILLE 36, FOXCROFT ACADEMY 14: Alex Pressey and Dan Pooler each rushed for more than 100 yards and the Panthers finished with nearly 400 yards on the ground at Waterville.
