Artist Barbara Ernst Prey selected Bowdoin College Museum of Art to receive $10,000 raised by Maine’s Down East Magazine at the Art of Giving Gala in Portland last Thursday.
In celebration of Down East’s 60th Anniversary, the magazine has invited Barbara Ernst Prey, along with other iconic Maine and New York artists, to be on an inside cover of the August anniversary issue. Her vibrant Nocturne IV is currently featured on the commemorative cover. A new limited edition signed and numbered print release of Nocturne IV produced by U.L.A.E. is currently included in the exhibit Barbara Ernst Prey: American Contemporary at Blue Water Fine Arts in Port Clyde. The exhibit has been extended through September 1st.
“As a member of the National Council on the Arts, the advisory Board to The National Endowment for the Arts appointed by the President of the United States, I am a strong supporter of the arts. I have worked closely with many students from the Bowdoin College Museum of Art and look forward to continued support of their work. As adjunct faculty at Williams College I am thrilled to support a small college museum in this way,” said Barbara Ernst Prey.
