GORHAM — Alex Wasilewski and Devin L’Heureux scored first-half goals Saturday to lift Salve Regina to a 2-0 victory against the University of Southern Maine in a nonconference men’s soccer game.

Evan Dudley assisted on L’Heureux’s goal for Salve Regina (1-1). Kyle Kureczka needed four saves for the shutout. Charles Mull stopped nine shots for the Huskies (0-2).

WHEATON 6, SAINT JOSEPH’S 0: Travis Blair scored three goals as the Lyons (2-0) shut out the Monks (0-2) at Norton, Massachusetts.

Luke Finkelstein added a goal and two assists. Scott Benner make six saves for St, Joseph’s.

DEAN 7, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 0: Javan Philip scored three times as the Bulldogs won a mutual opener at South Portland.

Marcos Taveres and Filipe Freitas added two goals each, and Rodrigo Honorato assisted on a pair. Wadhah Al-Shammari and Evan Meiler had the SeaWolves’ two shots on goal.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

DEAN 2, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 0: Alyssa Klotzbeecher took a pass from Hope Crawley and beat goalie Aime Worcester six minutes before the half to give the Bulldogs (1-0) the lead against Southern Maine CC (0-1) at South Portland.

Rachel Mauricio added an unassisted goal for Dean in the final minute.

GORDON 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Naomi Shearer scored twice and assisted on one of Lauren Hayes’ two goals, leading the Fighting Scots (1-1) past Southern Maine (0-3) at Wenham, Massachusetts.

Shearer set up Hayes after 3:39, then increased the lead to 2-0 at 5:06. Kara Dry’s late goal upped the lead to 3-0 at the half. Shearer, Hayes and Christina Martin put the game away with second-half goals.

WHEATON 5, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Julia Cipriano scored two first-half goals and the Lyons (1-0) defeated the Monks (0-2) at Norton, Massachusetts.

Jessie Mink added a pair of goals and Lauren Corigliano had one for Wheaton, which held Saint Joseph’s to five shots on goal.

FIELD HOCKEY

KEENE STATE 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Brittney Cardente scored with 43 seconds remaining to break a 1-1 tie and lift the Owls in a mutual opener at Keene, New Hampshire.

The Nor’easters opened the scoring when Erin Bibber converted Nicole Matarozzo’s assist after 19:33. Cardente tied it eight minutes later.

ST. JOSEPH’S 2, EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 1: Theresa Hendrix scored with 10:54 left to lift St. Joseph’s in a mutual opener at Mansfield, Connecticut.
