Last jam and supper for summer
Robin, Michael and Malia Morin are hosting their last potluck supper and music jam of the summer, Saturday, Aug. 30, at 252 Hodsdon Road in Pownal. Those who attend should bring a lawn chair, an instrument or talent, and some food to share. Potluck will begin around 5:30 p.m. Dessert and lemonade/iced tea will be provided. Music will start around 6:30 p.m. Michael and Malia Morin are regular performers at Fuego Diablo’s Music Nights. The Morins’ home is just a mile from Fuego Diablo, toward Yarmouth. This evening is free and open to the public.

Pig roast, auction to benefit church
On Saturday, Aug. 23, the North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will host a pig roast dinner from 5-6:30 p.m., with an auction following at 7. The price for dinner is $10 for those 13 and older, $5 for children 5-12 years old and free for children under 4. No reservations are needed. Dan Schall to perform at church
Dan Schall’s Gospel music ministry will be at the North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m. It’s one of more than 20 concerts he will be performing in a swing throughout Maine that start Aug. 20. For more information, see www.danschall.org.
Food pantry on Wednesdays
The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.
Check out flood maps
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is in the process of amending the flood maps on which many of the town’s building setbacks and regulations are based. Homeowners are urged to come into the town office during business hours and take a look at the proposed maps to see if any changes are proposed that might affect their property. There will be forms available to appeal those changes.

The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor.
