The City of Biddeford was booming 30 years ago. We had a thriving economy, good schools, low taxes and people who wanted to move here. The only thing that has not changed in 30 years are Biddeford politicians, who have driven this city into the ground.
Here are some examples: The people did not want the Maine Energy Recovery Company, but the politicians did; talk about a business killer. The people of Biddeford wanted the racino and the local politicians said they were for it in the City of Biddeford, but then went to Augusta and voted against it. Remember the superintendent residency issue? The people wanted him to reside in Biddeford, but our politicians in Augusta sponsored a bill saying otherwise. When MERC was closing anyway, our local politicians decided to kiss them good-bye with a $6 million taxpayer gift.
Biddeford citizens, haven’t we had enough? From empty buildings on Main Street to high taxes, high crime, sub-standard schools, and finally an airport that no longer can safely allow planes to use the airstrip at night ”“ all due to progressive, liberal-minded politicians. What next?
Now we have an opportunity to vote for a new generation of public servants who are business-minded with integrity and leadership skills with vision, common sense and open-mindedness. They are James Booth, candidate for State Senate District 32 (which encompasses Biddeford, Arundel, Dayton, Lyman, Alfred and Kennebunk) and Debi Davis, candidate for State House District 11 (which encompasses the larger portion of Biddeford from West Street to Arundel).
Isn’t it time to elect candidates who will do what is in the best interest for the citizens of Biddeford and the State of Maine, instead of being sold out by professional politicians? Let’s change Biddeford’s image by replacing Biddeford’s politicians and electing real public servants who have the best interest of those citizens who have elected them.
