Westbrook performers in show
Featuring Westbrook cast members, the Southern Maine Performing Arts Collaborative presents a traveling musical, “Songs for a New World,” in two performances this week at Westbrook High School on Stroudwater Street. The shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. Westbrook performers are Olivia Esty, Rachel Lloyd and Julianne McLaughlin.
Tickets, available at the door, are $12 and $10 for students and seniors.
Avita hosting fundraising auction
Avita of Stroudwater, an assisted living community in Westbrook, will host a live and silent auction and cocktail party on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6-8 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter. The auction is being co-hosted by In-Home Senior Services, which provides in-home care for seniors and those with long term and short term disabilities.
Items in the auction include hotel stays, golf passes, restaurant gift certificates, a time-share deed in North Conway, original artwork and more. The evening will feature, live music from the Saco Bay Jazz Choir, appetizers, beer and wine. This is one of several fundraisers being held at Avita of Stroudwater leading up to the Alzheimer’s Walk in Portland on Sept. 27. WHS class of ’47 reunion
The Westbrook High School class of 1947 will gather for its 67th reunion at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Zachery’s on Riverside Street in Portland.

Seniors booking trips
Westbrook Senior Citizens is planning two trips that are open to non-members.
The group will go to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire on Thursday, Aug. 28, for a cruise, lunch and a visit to Castle in the Clouds.
Next winter, the seniors will travel to New Orleans Jan. 23-Feb. 1 for a tour of the city and a Caribbean cruise.

Button club meets monthly
Casco Bay Button Club meets at St Anthony’s Church in Westbrook the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m.

‘Rejoicing spirits’ at Trinity
Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., will host its monthly program “Rejoicing Spirits,” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17.
The program with music and singing is a special worship service for those with cognitive and or development disabilities. A fellowship supper follows the program.
The church is handicapped accessible and an ASL interpreter will be provided.
