First of all for those of us who have never heard of Common Core, here is a quick synopsis: Common Core State Standards is an educational system bankrolled by Bill and Melinda Gates of Microsoft to the tune of $200 million. They have also spent millions setting up a political system across the country, persuading state governments to make systemic and costly changes. Again, our children and grandchildren become the guinea pigs for another experimental educational system, which will, from K-12, result in the continued dumbing down process.
This revolutionary Common Core is the progressive’s goal for a school-to-work curriculum. It was designed and implemented by subterfuge and coercion by Obama offering billions of dollars in 2009 of stimulus money to cash-strapped public schools ”“ providing they implement Common Core.
It was forced on the schools by a series of lies, by professional educators who were funded by the Gates.
It lowers educational standards and the math system is totally incomprehensible compared to the simple arithmetic we all learned when we were in school.
It subverts English and literature courses as a trade-off for required readings of non-fiction such as U.N. documents and government guidelines for asbestos removal. Sound ridiculous? It is.
It contains teacher guidelines for class discussions based on left-wing ideology with no counter balance of the other side. It was designed by theoretical liberals who have no clue to the true understanding of children as human beings.
It mandates a huge, non-secure national database that would contain more than 400 pieces of information on each child, including grades, performance, family information, health, and attitudes.
It will eventually control all standardized testing including SATS and ACTS so that even private schools and homeschoolers will find it difficult to escape the tentacles of the Common Core monster.
The eventual cost of the programs will fall back on the state’s educational systems. Even though initially there were federal dollars handed out, the lion’s share of implementation, which is very costly, becomes the responsibility of the taxpayers in each state.
Finally, looking at the curriculum, you’ll find that it is closely linked to the globalist educational plans of UNESCO and the U.N.
Don’t let the slogan, “college and career ready,” used by Common Core advocates, fool you. In reality, Common Core is the latest version of the continued battle by the federal government to control each state’s educational system. Local control is quickly becoming a myth. Unfortunately, the children pay a huge price of this crazy experiment.
