Born July 28, 1944, to Grace (Gagne) and Aime J. Lacharite in Brunswick, brother of Pauline (Lacharite) Bernier and Joan (Lacharite) Mann. Chummy attended Brunswick schools and joined the U.S. Army in 1962 to proudly serve his country. During his military career he worked as an engine equipment mechanic. He was an expert in carbine, Rifle M-1 and Rifle M-14.
In 1963 he married his true love, Jeannine L. Pratt. Shortly after marriage, Chummy and Jeannine were stationed at Fort Stuart and lived in Hinesville, Ga. Returning to Maine in 1965, he completed his Army service and began his employment at Bath Iron Works.
Chummy and his wife, Jeannine, raised four children: Johnny, Lisa, Vikki and Jaime.
He retired from BIW on July 29, 2011, after 46 years. During his tenure he was a pipe welder at “the Yard” and at E.B.M.F.
He enjoyed being at home, cutting and meticulously stacking wood, coin collecting, going to yard sales on the weekends and spending time with Jeannine.
He is pre-deceased by his infant son, Kenneth Alfred, his father, mother and sisters.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 years, Jeannine L. (Pratt) Lacharite; and his children, Johnny A. Lacharite of Bath, Lisa J. (Lacharite) Parechanian and husband, Gary of Scarborough, Vikki L. (Lacharite) Toothaker and husband Martin of Bath, and Jaime S. Lacharite and wife Sara (Hooper) of Litchfield.
He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Erik, Tyler and Alex Parechanian, Brittanie (and fiancé Brandon Brown) and Adam Brown, and Jaime A. Lacharite; two stepgranddaughers, Jessica Toothaker and Kaleigh Winn (husband Matthew); three stepgreat-grandchildren, Chole, Grace and Nathan; and one greatgrandson, Brody L. Brown.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at noon at Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick.
