We need to set up priorities, and they are to take care of our citizens first. We allow immigrants to come here and live without any U.S. status. Then they expect paying citizens to take care of these people over our own citizens. These people need to go back where they came from. We are not a welfare state. When you come to America, plan on working and paying taxes. I don’t appreciate my taxes going to someone who doesn’t belong here. They certainly don’t deserve any kind of welfare.
When we can say that all of our citizens have a warm bed and three meals a day, then and only then can we look to helping someone else.
The State of Maine has enough problems without having immigrants coming here illegally for handouts. These illegal immigrants come here to Maine and think they deserve rights. They have no rights, yet they come here and protest and take people to court because their rights were violated. These people need to stay home and protest to make changes in their own country.
We have citizens who have to beg for help, yet these illegal immigrants come here and get welfare, tax breaks, housing, education, etc. ”“ you name it ”“ all without asking. We should take care of our citizens so well.
Also, we have never had so much serious crime in Maine since we started letting these immigrants stay here. Most of them cannot speak English, have never worked and don’t have intentions of working.
Until these people become citizens and starting paying taxes in Maine, then and only then do they deserve to live here. Charity begins at home.
I am a veteran and fought to protect and safeguard the welfare of the American people. I salute you, Gov. LePage, and respect your decision on immigrants. You’re absolutely right.
