Help the Troops
A benefit Supper/Dance to help support the troops will be held on Friday, Aug. 15, at the American Legion Hall, Route 100, Gray. The supper will be from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m., featuring spaghetti, salads and desserts. The dance with music by DJ Brian Poulin from WPOR starts around 7:30 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. The price to attend is $15 per person. Tickets are on sale now, please contact 607-3982 since space is limited. There will be a 50/50 raffle and also door prizes.
All proceeds to help The House In The Woods, a military family retreat located in Lee, Maine.
New Intern
The Maine Development Foundation welcomed their newest intern, Elyse Doyle, of Gray to their team. Doyle will be joining the foundation for the remainder of the summer and brings excellent skills in economic analysis and additional exciting energy to the team. She is working toward her master’s of arts in economics at the University of Maine’s School of Economics, which has collaborated with MDF on their series of quarterly economic reports.
Pass the Popcorn
On Thursday, Aug. 7, load up the car with family, grab a blanket, bean bag or favorite lawn chair, and go to Pennell Park for a family movie event featuring “The Jungle Book” and Aug. 21 “Mystery Movie.” The movies will start at dusk, just about 8:15 p.m. Rain location will be the Newbegin Gymnasium. The Snack Shack will be open and serving your favorite movie snacks and beverages.
Do the Chicken Dance
The 49th Gray Fire and Rescue Annual Chicken BBQ will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, starting at noon until the chicken is gone. The meal will be held at the Gray Fire Rescue Central Station, 125 Shaker Road (Route 26) in Gray.
At the Wildlife Park
On Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Maine Wildlife Park, Route 26 in Gray, Mad Science Fire and Ice Show will be held from 11 a.m.-noon. Witness experiments like the Big Burp, Sizzling Scissors and famous Mad Science Shower. Live, interactive and compelling experiences that make learning a blast. Dyslexia Benefit
The 9th Annual Teddy Bear Scramble for the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Portland will be at Spring Meadows Golf Club, Route 100, Gray, on Wednesday, Aug. 6, with signup from 7-8 a.m. and a shot gun start at 8:15 a.m. Luncheon and awards will follow.
