BIDDEFORD — Fernande B. George, 86, of Biddeford, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born June 7, 1928 in South Portland, a daughter of Roland and Blanche (Cyr) Arel, and was educated at St. Andre’s School in Biddeford.

Fernande worked at the Bates Mill until it closed. She also worked at Dan’s Café and the Sea Drift Hotel until she was 75.

On July 2, 1982, she married Ivon George in Biddeford.

Fernande was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary; she enjoyed card playing and Beano, but her greatest pleasure was derived from being with her grandchildren.

Fernande was preceded in death by: her husband, Ivon, on Dec. 26, 2008; a son, André Bolduc, on Jan. 13, 1993; and a daughter, Patricia Bolduc, on Oct. 14, 2004.

Surviving are: two sons, Armand Bolduc of Florida and Ronald Bolduc and his wife Rachel of Saco; two daughters, Debra Burnham of Biddeford and Lori Smith of Biddeford, with whom she had resided; stepdaughters, Regina Dewitt and her husband Paul of Arizona and Kim Gagne and her husband Bob of Waterboro; stepsons, Mike George and his wife Chong of Alaska, Tom George and his wife Becky of Utah and Al George and his wife Becky of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Theresa Melancon of Bradenton, Florida; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
