BIDDEFORD — Robert Gene Ciaraldi, 82, of Biddeford, died Monday, July 21, 2014 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born in Lawrence, Massachu-setts on Oct. 5, 1931, to Carlo and Emily (DeCunto) Ciaraldi.
He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1948 and moved to Maine in 2002.
On Feb. 9, 1969, he married Roberta Mullen in Salem, New Hampshire.
Robert enlisted in the Army in 1948 and served as a medic while stationed in Guam. In 1950, he transferred to the Naval Reserves. During his time in the Reserves, he worked at Bon Secours Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts as a respiratory therapist. In 1969, he joined the Lawrence Police Department as a patrolman. He was promoted to detective before his retirement in 1980. During his retirement, he held several driving positions, including transporting limos for The Coach Company and driving a trolley in Old Orchard Beach.
Robert was an avid Bruins fan and enjoyed watching professional tennis. He also loved the local cuisine, one of his favorites being TinTin Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by: an infant son, Robert Ciaraldi and one sister, Theresa Miller.
Robert is survived by: his loving wife of 45 years, Roberta Ciaraldi of Biddeford; two sons, Marc Ciaraldi and his partner Bob Pete of Biddeford and Robert Ciaraldi Jr. of Lowell, Massachusetts; two daughters, Linda Redhorse and her husband Jesse of North Conway, New Hampshire and Theresa Stamos and her husband Kim of Nahant, Massachusetts; two brothers, Carl Ciaraldi of Sandown, New Hampshire and Anthony Ciaraldi of West Palm Beach, Florida; two sisters, Joyce Davis and Veronica Gunning and her husband Alex of Florida; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
