BATH — Donald E. Blake Sr., 82, of Denny Road, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born in Bath on July 20, 1931, a son of Clarence I. and Evelyn (McNeil) Blake. He attended Bath schools and entered the United States Army. He then enlisted in the National Guard for eight years. In 1951 he was employed at Bath Iron Works as a welder, retiring in June of 1999 after 48 years. On May 29, 1957, he married Jean A. Berry and they resided in Bath.

He was a life member of the American Legion in Bath.

Don enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting and spending time with family.

He was predeceased by his brother, Elmer R. Blake, and one sister, Dorothy Bernier.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Blake of Bath, one son, Donald E. Blake Jr. and his wife Jean of Bath, one daughter, Barbara Ann McCabe and her husband Joel of Monmouth, three sisters, Helen Saunders of FL, Roberta Pomeleau of Clinton and Patsy French of Dresden, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. Burial will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
