Let’s talk about Mike Michaud and his action (or non-action) on the House Veterans Affairs Committee. Michaud is the ranking Democrat on this committee. He’s been on this committee for the past 12 years. The committee is supposed to field issues regarding our veterans and intercede and make positive changes to help our veterans.

Question one: How could Michaud not have known of all the issues regarding the shabby treatment of American veterans, which resulted in up to 40 of those good men and women dying while waiting for treatment? Perhaps he should have had the integrity to do more than just show up for those committee meetings. Certainly, he had the responsibility to do so and owed at least that to our veterans.

Question two: What kind of governor of our state might he make? After all, it takes more than just showing up every morning at the governor’s office to make things happen. I sense a direct connection between his non-action in the House committee and his non-action as a possible future governor. After all, he has been on the House Committee for 12 years and claims he wasn’t aware of what was happening.

If elected, he would be governor for only four years. If 12 years was not enough time to get the facts and get more involved, he’ll never get anything done in only four years, right?

We need a person in Augusta who is proactive and is willing to uncover what is wrong, make tough decisions to fix it and take the heat for doing so. Someone like Gov. Paul LePage, who has done a good job as governor, although you would never know it if you listen to the Democrats and the Maine media.
