TOPSHAM — Martha C. Downing, age 81, of Hubbard Lane, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine.
Martha was a teacher for many years while living in New Jersey before retiring to Maine in 2005. The Downings vacationed at their home in South Berkshire County, where there was a long family historical connection to the area.
Surviving are her four children, Christy Lopez of North Plainfied, NJ, Lindsay Schiafo and her husband Russell of Chester, NJ, Shelley
Mazzarino and her husband John of Califon, NJ, and Paul Cook Downing IV and his wife Dana of Dunellen, NJ. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick A funeral service will be held in Great Barrington, MA. Maine arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, where memorial condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com.
