Voters in Maine School Administrative District 6 on Tuesday validated a $45, 622,550 budget for the fiscal year that begins on July 1.

The budget, which went to voters in the district’s five member towns of Standish, Hollis, Limington, Buxton and Frye Island, was approved 1,814-1,167.

The budget jumped more than $1 million from the $44,572,780 approved a year ago.

Voters in four of the five district towns passed the new budget with Frye Island dissenting.

Margins were tight in two of the district’s towns. Buxton narrowly passed the budget by 25 votes 303-278, and Limington approved the budget by a scant five votes, 107-102. But the school budget easily passed in Standish 839-522, and passed 561-251 in Hollis.

Frye Island rejected the budget with 14 ballots against while four favored it.
