‘The Longest Day’ fundraiser at Avita
Avita of Stroudwater will be participating in the Longest Day Fundraiser, a worldwide event to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Each year on June 21, the summer solstice, groups and teams around the globe hold a day of activities to raise funds and awareness to advance the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Activities range from hiking and biking to bake sales and luncheons.
Everyone is invited to Avita of Stroudwater, 320 Spring St., from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, for lunch, live music and dancing. The lunch includes barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, pasta salad, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake, and is $10 per plate.
In addition, donations will be accepted at the site for people unable to attend the meal.
“We hope the community will join us in our efforts to raise money and honor the endurance of those facing Alzheimer’s,” said Courtney Freeman, executive director of Avita of Stroudwater. “This promises to be a day of fun, with activities geared for all age groups.”
The goal is to raise $1,600 between Avita of Stroudwater and its sister-properties, also owned by The Northbridge Companies. Northbridge owns eight assisted living communities across Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
