She was born in Paris, France, on April 13, 1924, a daughter of Marcel and Marie Madeleine Colas.
She met her husband in France. On Dec. 5, 1946, she married Richard G. Blauvelt in Bourges, France. They moved to New York City and later New Jersey, she was employed at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J., for many years. In 1984 she moved to Bath and resided with her son Philip. She volunteered in the Gift Shop at the Maine Maritime Museum for several years. She enjoyed going to the beach with her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time and sitting on the porch at the summer cottage in Belfast, Maine. She enjoyed going to auctions and drives out to the shore.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard G. Blauvelt in 1978 in New Jersey and one son, Paul G. Blauvelt on May 19, 2012.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Blauvelt and his wife Regina of Brunswick, GA, Daniel Blauvelt and his wife Ruth of Sun City West, AZ and Philip Blauvelt of Bath, one brother Yves Colas of France and her daughter-inlaw, Hedy P. Blauvelt of Topsham, six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln St., Bath.
