Morin earns degree

Stephanie Morin of Gorham graduated on May 17 from Huntington University in Huntington, Ind. Morin, a 2010 Gorham High School graduate, received a bachelor’s of arts degree in public relations/history.

Cancer support group to meet

The Gorham Cancer Prayer and Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Cressey Road United Methodist Church, 81 Cressey Road, Gorham.

Boyle in forum

Sen. Jim Boyle, D-Gorham, and Sen. Rebecca Millett, D-Cape Elizabeth, will host a community forum from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 7, in Scarborough at the town’s public library, 48 Gorham Road.

The forum will focus on laws passed in the second regular session of the 126th Legislature.

“The 126th Legislature has finished its work for the year, and a number of key measures have been passed into law,” Boyle said in a statement. “These laws will have a significant impact on us and our towns, and it is important that people have the chance to ask questions and share their concerns.”

Meet GOP candidates

Three Republican candidates for state and national office will meet the public from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at Moody’s Collision Center, 200 Narragansett St., Gorham.

The candidates include Amy Volk, candidate for the Maine Senate, 30th District; Isaac Misiuk, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, 1st District; and Tyler Kinney, candidate for the Maine House of Representatives, 27nd District.

GHS graduation

The Gorham High School graduation will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.

Jennifer Hughes, administrative assistant in the school’s guidance department, said on Tuesday that the graduating class would number about 205.

Taste walk on Sunday

Gorham’s seventh annual Taste Walk is set for 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, June 1.

Chefs at 11 food venues will create their signature dishes, as they compete for this year’s Golden Spoon Award.

Maps are available for $5 that allows the public to sample food at the participating venues. YoungLife Gorham, directed by Kati King, is organizing the Taste Walk.

Town Councilor Suzanne Phillips, who is a YoungLife board member, said the participating venues in the Taste Walk are Hannaford, Ispoon, 91 South, Amatos, Gorham House of Pizza, Sweet Shoppe, Blue Pig Diner, Thatchers, University of Southern Maine, Gorham Grind, and Sebago Brewing Company.

Maps are on sale at the Blue Pig Diner, 29 School St., and maps will be available on Sunday outside Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service reported on May 22 that the U.S. Public Debt was $17,488,395,174,401.72.

The Baxter Museum, 67 South St., Gorham, will open for tours in June on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through August. Admission is free.
