The expansion of the Biddeford Municipal Airport being planned by the Biddeford City Council is just another scheme for special interests. Mayor Alan Casavant and some council members have no regard for the safety of the children attending the new $23 million school at the end of the runway or the people who are living there.

I challenge the council to tell me there are no safety issues here. What about the noise from these planes? Will this affect the children’s learning? What about damage to the environment and the increase in property taxes? What about taxpayer money being spent? What about encroachment on private property?

The council should take care of the residents living and paying taxes in Biddeford first, not special interests. I wonder how many parents with children attending this school will call and ask this question.

How safe are the children going to the school from an airplane accident? Biddeford residents deserve an honest answer.
