Well, the recent article on the USS Zumwalt warship’s namesake did get part of the story correct. Of course, the analysis of the left wing, politically correct press is a complete fib. The quote, “Zumwalt came in and smashed that entire system” pretty well sums it up.
How do you destroy a large organization? One of the best ways is to destroy its traditions. And the Navy, being one of the most tradition-bound services, was ripe for the liberals to destroy. Just as the Second Vatican Council has destroyed most of the Catholic Church by destroying its traditions (remove the tabernacle from the altar, remove the altar rail, communion in the hand, etc.), Admiral Elmo Zumwalt destroyed discipline in the Navy.
And, as everywhere else in society, when political correctness replaces ability as the primary criteria in job promotion, quality suffers and suffers immensely. And now the military has so-called equal opportunity enforcers who make sure that all personnel kowtow to this evil.
