After 15 years in the Time and Temperature building in downtown Portland, the WMTW television station will be moving into a broadcast-ready facility on Ledgewood Drive in Westbrook this fall.
“Our team has accomplished so much from this historic building,” Dave Abel, president and general manager of WMTW, said in a press release Wednesday. “We successfully launched six hours of weekend news, expanded our weekday evenings and re-branded our station. We now look forward to a new facility where it will allow us the opportunity, at some point in the future, to combine all our facilities under one roof and become a synergistic operation with no miles between us.”
“Most viewers are not aware that we operate out of two key locations,” Greg Roehr, director of engineering for WMTW, said the the release “The technical and logistical challenges for a two-facility news and broadcast operation were at the core of our decision to make these changes. The time is right for this move to better serve our audience and employees going forward.”
