SPRINGVALE — Mary F. Bouffard-Levesque, 86, of Springvale, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford.

Mary was born on Feb. 22, 1928, the eldest daughter of the late James and Blanche (Driscoll) Duranceau.

She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1946.

Mary married John P. Bouffard, and together they raised four children in Sanford and Springvale.

Mary was employed by AT&T as a telephone operator first in the Biddeford office, and upon her marriage to John, in the Sanford office until that office closed. She went on to spend many years raising her family. She was employed by Chase Real Estate Company, the Sanford Police Department and retired from the Town of Sanford as a clerk in the town clerk’s office.

Mary and John enjoyed many summers at their camp on Mousam Lake, where aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews gathered. She and John had a large garden, and Mary loved to can the abundance of veggies. Mary enjoyed writing, crocheting and cooking. She traveled to Great Britain, Ireland and up and down the East Coast. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, and especially loved Christmas Eve parties at her home on Beaver Hill Road.

Mary was preceded in death by: John in 1986 and later married J. Roger Levesque in 1989.

Mary is survived by: her four children, Susan Mesick and her husband Michael of Alfred, Michael Bouffard of Hudson, N.H., Caroline Chase of Nashua, N.H. and David and his wife Jaye Churchill of Falmouth; her sisters, Irene Tarbox of Kennebunk, Joan Murray of Keene, N.H. and Martha Duranceau of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Nadeau and her husband Anthony Pierce of Harpswell, Adam Nadeau and his wife Monique Crowley of S. Lake Tahoe, Calif., Heath Bouffard and his fiancée Jennifer Sperdakos of Waterboro, Amy Bouffard of Kennebunk, Cory Chase of New Mexico and Christopher Chase of Idaho; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Notre Dame Church, Payne Street in Springvale. Burial will be at a later date at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.
