The Biddeford Republican Caucus, held on Feb. 1 at the J. Richard Martin Community Center, was very successful. The Biddeford Republican City Committee has been formed for 2014 and 2015 with four positions on the board filled and they are as follows: Frank Novotny, retired U. S. Army Captain, is chairman; Marc Worrell, former chairman, is now vice chairman; Albert Coulombe, former Biddeford City Committee secretary for 26 years, is again secretary; Carrie Pelletier, a paralegal, was named treasurer; and Armand Tardif Jr., a business owner, was named chaplain.

The City Committee is able to send six delegates representing Biddeford to the York County Committee meetings held monthly in Alfred, and we have many who are interested in representing Biddeford as a state delegate to the Maine Republican State Convention held this year in Bangor. We need the public’s help in obtaining more delegates representing Biddeford. The state allows Biddeford 33 delegates and 33 alternates. If you or someone you know is a Republican and is interested in participating in local government, the Maine Republican State Convention is the most important and most interesting of all. For more information, call 282-7567.

We thank the Biddeford Republican citizens for coming out and voting at the caucus. We consider the caucus meeting and the elections that occur to be among the most important functions of the Biddeford Republican City Committee. Through a strong city committee, can we achieve the goal of strengthening our party and identifying and electing our candidates representing Biddeford for local, state and federal offices.

We must rebuild our organization, and maintain and improve on the attendance at our Biddeford Republican City Committee monthly meetings. For this to happen, we need Republicans who support the Republican Party platform with limited government, fiscal responsibilities, and respect for the Maine Constitution and the U.S. Constitution.

Biddeford registered Republicans are welcome, needed and wanted to attend our monthly meetings and participate in our discussions, which are held monthly on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

If you are truly interested in restoring America as a Constitutional republic, please come join us.

-Donna Flanagan, Biddeford
